Our Mission
The Junior League of Bergen County, Inc. is an organization of women
committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women
and improving the community through the effective action and leadership
of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and
charitable. We reach out to women of all races, religions and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to voluntarism. History
The Junior League of Bergen County, Inc. originally started in 1928 with 60 members and was called The Englewood Junior Service League. In 1933, the name was changed to the Junior League of Englewood when we were admitted to the Association of Junior Leagues. In 1962, the Ridgewood Area of the League was established and hereafter, the name became the Junior League of Englewood-Ridgewood, Inc. Later, in June of 1972, the League's name was officially changed to The Junior League of Bergen County.
Today
Today, the JLBC has over 200 members from around the county. Many of our members can be found using their Junior League training and experience in their professional lives, at home and at school, as well as on other charitable boards. Active Junior League members volunteer their time and service to the community in many ways through League-sponsored initiatives. Funds that are raised are returned to the community through JLBC projects, programs, scholarships and Community Grants.
